Are you and your family looking to indulge in a day that includes an appreciation for both fine wine and art, coupled with family-friendly entertainment?  If so, you absolutely do not want to miss out on the opportunity to attend this weekend’s Walnut Creek Art and Wine Festival event.  Heather Farm Park invites you to come out for a magnificent weekend in celebrating talented local artisans, united with an exquisite array of fine wines fashioned from locally-grown grapes.

The Walnut Creek Art and Wine Festival is one of the premier outdoor events held in all of Contra Costa.  Year after year, hundreds of thousands of people await its arrival and attend the two-day happening.  This weekend the Festival will be celebrating its 33rd consecutive year in hosting this popular family-friendly event.

The Festival will feature on-going live entertainment, excellent wine and beer offerings, and a unique shopping experience.  Over 100 wines and beers will be highlighted, along with the returning craft beer garden.  Two stages of live entertainment will be showcasing musical remembrances of the 1960’s and ‘70’s.  Over 200 artisans will be exhibiting and selling their unique, handcrafted items.  And for our children, a kid’s zone will be set up presenting games and activities.

As always, both admission and parking are free for the attendance of the Walnut Creek Art and Wine Festival.  So bring the entire family out to Heather Farm Park this weekend for a 2-day art, wine, and entertainment extravaganza.  There will be something for everyone, adults and children alike!

Model Train Show and Open House

Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society, Walnut Creek, California

The Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society invites you and your family to come out this Saturday to celebrate its Open House and model “Train Show” event.  Declared the “Best Man Cave in the Bay Area”, the building that houses this spectacular exhibition of model trains was specifically designed, and built around the layout for the trains to travel the tracks.

This Saturday, your family will become immersed in the miniature world of trains, and the excursions they travel.  The design features landscapes, cityscapes, mountainous terrain, and landmarks of all sorts.  The trains travel through tunnels, over hills, across bridges, and over waterways.  They cover over 4,300 linear feet of railway, spanning over 1,800 square feet of ground.  The trains scale to peaks of mountains over 4 feet tall, and then plummet into the valleys that lie far below.

The cost to attend the world-renowned Walnut Creek Railroad Society “Train Show” and Open House event is only $3.00 for adults ages 13 and older, $2.00 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children under the age of 6.  Tickets can be purchased at the door, the day of the event.

So this Saturday plan on clearing your agenda to spend the day in a mesmerizing miniature world, at the “Train Show” event.  Trains will be zooming around a topographical masterpiece, featuring amusement parks, towns, train stations, cities, landmarks and much more.  Your family will truly be fascinated by this miniature world, created on such a grand scale!

Ready or Not Improv: Santa, We’ve Been Bad

Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, California

Laugh until you can laugh no more.  If you have had enough of the holiday hustle and bustle, take a break this Saturday evening to join me at the Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts for an event that is sure to keep you in stitches.  The Ready or Not Improv team will be taking the stage for a very special presentation of Santa, We’ve Been Bad.

You will laugh until you cry, and you will be shaking your head in disbelief.  The Ready or Not Improv members are known to perform a very special brand of spontaneous, humorous theater.  Always entertaining, the team of improvisational comedians perfectly mix humor with drama in all of their off-the-cuff performances.  Since 2010, the Ready or Not players have been acting and practicing together, fine-tuning their hilarious acts.  The entire group of performers live, love, and laugh right here, in Contra Costa County.

Admission for this very special presentation of Santa, We’ve Been Bad is only $15.00 per person.  To view a seat map and purchase your tickets online, please click here.  Although the group of comedians make a strong attempt to keep their acts to a PG13 rating, there may be a slip, or two.  Therefore, an age appropriateness can not necessarily be determined for this presentation.

So, if you are ready for an evening of improvisational acts, laughter until it hurts, and an unforgettable Ready or Not Improv performance, be sure to join me this Saturday night for Santa, We’ve Been Bad.  See you there!!
